While current labels focus on pregnancy and driving precautions, they have not been modified since 1988.

South Korea mandates a cancer-specific warning label, while Ireland has enacted legislation requiring such labels by 2026. Dr. Murthy’s advisory identifies seven specific types of cancer associated with alcohol consumption, emphasizing that higher levels of intake correspond to increased risks.

Australia notably classifies alcohol as a Group 1 carcinogen along with tobacco smoking, underscoring its potential harm.
