With a dedicated daughterboard for controlling lighting, fans, I/O, and power switches, along with a conversion kit for third-party motherboards, users can expect endless possibilities for personalization.

McGowan highlighted that demand for “standard mounting locations” was a driving force behind this shift towards a more upgradable computer. While not all Alienware models will follow suit immediately due to the advantages of proprietary parts in terms of pricing and efficiency, there is potential for future releases to adopt similar standards.
